DWIP 10/10: Bob Shackleton

What:

The featured guest at Dinners With Interesting People on Tuesday 10/10 will be Robert Shackleton, who is an  analyst in the Macroeconomic Analysis Division of the Congressional Budget Office.

For an idea of what Bob does there, take a look at his presentation "CBO’s Economic Forecast: Understanding the Slowdown of Productivity Growth", or his paper "Estimating and projecting potential output using CBO's forecasting growth model", which "describes the data, analytic methods, and modeling framework used to estimate historical values of the components of potential output and to protect those values into the future".

Bob started his government career in the 1990s as an economist at the Environmental Protection Agency, and he's recently returned to some prescient work on climate change from decades ago, exemplified by his 2003 monograph "The Economics of Climate Change: A Primer".

Apart from his CBO job, Bob has also pursued an interest in dialectology, resulting in publications like "Phonetic variation in the traditional English dialects: a computational analysis".
