Rice has been a central feature that has livelihoods and interactions across the Black Diaspora across the Caribbean and the Americas. All participants will have an opportunity to cast an anonymous vote for the best-made Jollof rice during the event.
A Penn faculty speaker will talk about the African origins of rice cultivation in the Americas and how rice brings community together.
We will have Philly-based enterpenuers, artists and artisans speaking to students about how to start their own business and share tips on creating culturally based brands.
