Dinners With Interesting People: Dean Steiner

What:

Come to DWIP on Tuesday, February 27th at 6:00pm to speak with Dean Steiner -- the Dean of Penn Design -- and eat some Hummus. Come to talk with him about his work in designing in urban environments and you can even get a free copy of his most recent book "Making Plans" if you are one of the first to arrive.

Frederick Steiner was named the Dean of Penn Design in 2016. His work focuses on the integration between nature and environmental design with urban development Previously at UT Austin, Steiner led nearly 70 faculty and teaching staff and 700 students across a disciplines including architecture, community and regional planning, historic preservation, interior design, landscape architecture, sustainable design and urban design.

 

Steiner has written, edited or co-edited 17 books, including two editions of the widely used and frequently translated The Living Landscape: An Ecological Approach to Landscape Planning and influential edited volumes with and on Ian McHarg, the celebrated landscape architect and founder of Penn’s Department of Landscape Architecture.
