Childish Gambino Live at Wells Fargo

Tuesday the 18th. The concert starts at 7:30pm. We will leave from Ware at 6:00pm sharp. If you're not at the meeting spot at 6:00pm, your spot will be forfeited. Eat dinner before the concert. We'll take care of transportation. This is event is only for Ware residents. 

For a chance to win one free ticket, you have to enter the short essay contest. 

Submit your essay and RSVP in the link below. The essay submission closes Friday September 14th at 12noon.

Essays will be judged, and winners will be announced on Sunday September 16th.  

The concert tickets are expensive and very popular, if you are selected and cannot attend, please contact GA Akudo at akudoe@sas.upenn.edu as soon as possible. Failure to cancel more than 48 hours before the event could result in the cost of the ticket being charged to your Bursar Bill.

Here is the detail for the essay contest.  Must have the essay competed before you can RSVP.

Childish Gambino’s hit song and video, “This is America,” explores what it really means to be an American. Please write 250-word essays (with references) on what lesson we can draw from the video and lyrics. Your essay has address the following three observation questions:

(1) What images do you see? 

(2) Why is the video significant  in our current political climate?

(3) How does the video resonate with you?

Feel free to read and quote lyrics from the song. You can find the song’s full lyrics online. If you are quoting or paraphrasing some else’s though, please properly cite your paper. Plagiarism is not allowed. Essays more than 250 words and less than 200 words will not be read.  Have fun! Good luck!
