Brendan O'Leary, the Lauder Professor of Political Science, combines scholarship (30 books and hundreds of articles) with an impressive record in international politics. He played a role in the Northern Ireland peace process, has consulted for the U.S., the U.K. and the U.N. on confederal and power-sharing arrangements in Somalia, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Nepal, Sudan, South Sudan, Kyrgyzstan, and elsewhere; and has served as constitutional advisor to the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq. He recently completed a three volume set on Northern Ireland: I Colonialism, II Control, III Consociation and Confederation.
